New Haven Ct. Horton sold a safety style fountain pen in the
1890s. It had a screw on cap, which was unusual for the time. You
posted the cap and used it to turn out the nib. They didn't
last long and their pens are very rare today. They listed an
aluminum barrel in their catalog, I am guessing that this was an
aluminum overlay
