The original name of the company was "The Popular
Fountain Pen Co". This dates back to 1886 [or earlier]. High quality eyedropper and self filling fountain pens.
I believe he had his pens made by other companies and was only a
designer/inventor. He sold an early ink-maker pen called the "Security" which according to him
held a years ink supply before you needed a replacement cartridge. He also sold a pen called the Nosak,
which he claimed had no bladder and was filled by the suction of the
cap? I am guessing that the cap moved a floating piston inside
the barrel but causing a suction and theere was . It went out
of business sometime between 1916 and 1922. It seems that he
moved the location with ease every few years, which would be the
sign of someone who only did assembly work and purchased parts or
whole pens from someone else. Trademarks included Nosack [or Nosak] , Record,
Security , John Hancock [dip pen holders], Red Robin and more.
A large amount of his sales were stylo pens which were marked
Blair's Fluid Pencil. . John Blair died in 1914. |
