James Allison sold pocket watches and fountain pens from a store in
Indianapolis Indiana. He operated a jewelry store, but it seems
like his main line was pocket watches and he started selling fountain
pens at some point before 1893. He called his pen the Allison's
Perfection Fountain Pen. According to his ad, he actually had a
catalogue for his pens. By 1910 his is listed as a "fountain pen agent"
, which makes me think he became more of a pen salesman than a jeweler.
I have never seen an Allison pen, so he may have given up on selling his
own line and just sold other pens at some point. |
