Roscoe St Chicago Ill. Originally just a pencil maker, they
purchased some of the remnants of the Boston Fountain Pen Co and the
early Wahl pens were leftover Boston pens with Wahl Tempoint nibs
installed. They used the Boston designed roller clip on the new
Wahl pens, the earliest ones seem to be Boston leftovers just marked
with the gold content. Some of their best pens were the celluloid pens of the late 20 and
early 30s which include the Gold Seal pens and the Equipoised. The
Gold Seal was their version of a lifetime guarantee. Their Personal
Point pens featured a screw-out nib/feed that made it easy for retailers
to install a nib that would best fit the buyers preference. The
Coronet was their best styled pen with a very art deco look. They went
steadily downhill in the late 30s from being a leader in the field to
the point where they were just making plain old junk. Eventually they
were bought out by Parker who wanted their line of cartridge pens, which
became the Parker 45. Some of the lower lines included Wahl Oxford [or
just Oxford], Olympic and what had to be their lowest line, the Monitor.
