Camden NJ. Prolific manufacturer. High quality at a low price.
Esterbrook pens are considered junk by many. I think this is because
of their lack of gold nibs. They are actually high quality with a
screw in nib and a whole series of nibs that could be bought for a few
cents to customize your pen.
Esterbrook started life as a dip pen nib company and decided to add a
fountain pen to their line around 1900, so they turned to Paul Wirt to
make a pen for them. He sent them hard rubber eyedroppers that
differed very little from his own line except for the barrel imprint.
Decades later they came out with a pen made in their own factory.
This lever fill pen with interchangeable nibs probably outsold any
other pen except for maybe Wearever. There are also some very
desirable rarities such as their twist fillers and Doctors pens. Most
Esterbrooks aren’t rare and sell for $5-10. You couldn’t make a pen
of this quality today for less than a few hundred dollars.
