| Seth Sears Crocker started the
Crocker Pen co in Boston Mass in the 1890s. His son Seth
Chilton Crocker founded the SC Crocker Pen Co in Brooklyn NY.
The Sc Crocker Pen Co . Seth Crocker had a great new pen design and built
a pen company around it. It was a pump filler and although he never became a
large national pen company, he did sell some great quality pens in an array
of great colors. The finest of the Chilton line was their interesting
inlay patterned pens. Instead of making overlays, they simply had metal
inlays right in the plastic with very art deco designs. Besides a great filling system and great
eye appeal, their
pens also some some unique features like their Lox-Top design which kept
the cap from unscrewing while in your pocket. This was accomplished by a
small protrusion under the clip that would lock into the section with a
little pressure from your shirt pocket coming between the cap and the clip.
They also had a unique nib called the Wing-Flow which wrapped around the
back of the feed to allow a lot of flex without the nib being pushed back
too easily. Their last quality pen was the Golden Quill which was sold by a mail
order company after they had gone bankrupt. They did have some pens sold
after the Golden Quill like the Chiltonian, but these pens were inferior and
may have just been an attempt to use up old parts. |
