Hi quality maker of fountain pen nibs and fountain pens.
Beaumel sold the Rival eyedropper, but this pen should not be
confused with the Rival fountain pen from the 1880s. The earlier
Rival was made by Daniel Lapham and Francis Bogart. Wirt sued them
over the original Rival pen using his patents and ended up with
their assets. Beaumel began selling his Rival pen a few years
later and benefited from the original Rivals brand name familiarity
with the public.
Models included the Champion, Graphic , Raven , Beaumel , Falcon,
Red Raven Stylo , and of course Rival. David W Beaumel held at least 7
pen patents and was once associated with FC Brown. During the
1920s he began selling the Durabilt line
of pens which included some high quality oversize flattop models. He
also made a few lower lines under various names for mail order
companies which he called
"imprint" pens. The imprint on the combo listed below has an
interesting barrel imprint Durabiltwin which would be pronounced
Durabilt Twin [meaning twin use]. He seems to have gone out of
business in the 1930s.
