This is a near mint pen. I did not put new seals in it, so I have no idea
if it will leak, but I don't really want to service a pen that is unused.
The color doesn't match between the parts on this pen, but I think it was
just chance, I don't think anything has been replaced. Where would you get
parts for a pen like this? |

Obviously this is a not a mint pen, but it is a fairly hard pen to find.
Most of these pens have unsigned replacement clips and/or nibs, this pen
has signed parts. It does have that crack in the cap lip running up to the
lower band. Good writer. |

1920s
Country of Origin:
USA
Cap Material:
hard rubber
Barrel Material:
hard rubber
Style:
twist fill
Cap Style: screw

semi-flex
Nib Width (tip):
medium but it has no iridium
working condition:
not working
Scratches or Cracks:
none
Engravings:

Imprint:
Resevo Pen Co Chicago Ill
Imprint Location:
barrel
Imprint Condition:
excellent
This is a important pen for any AA collector. The pen had the original
barrel imprint removed at the factory but you can still read the imprint
using a loupe. The original imprints is: "The Resevo Pen Made and
Guaranteed by the AA Waterman Pen Co Chicago Not Connected With LE
Waterman Co NY". They obviously needed to remove the AA Waterman markings
from the pen. The box has also been altered twice. The box was
completely plain when I got it. I noticed that it has been covered with
yellow paper labeling tape. I removed some of the plain tape from the top
of the box and you can see in the photos that it is marked Resevo/AA
Waterman Chicago. This matches the original barrel imprint. This is
consistent with the removal of the AA markings on the pen, they covered
them up on the box. The markings now readable on the box are actually a
label covering another set of markings on the box. I couldn't get this
label to come up but the very edge will lift up enough to see that the
"original" markings on the box were also from the Chicago address. I also
noticed on the instruction sheet that the lower part of the sheet has been
cut off with scissors, probably to eliminate the AA Waterman markings.
The bottom of the box has also been covered with the same paper tape. The
pen is in excellent condition but it has no iridium on the nib [probably
why it is still in the original box!]. One of the common theories about AA
is that the company became the Chicago Safety pen Co. This may be true,
but I suspect that they were trying to transition to the Resevo name
first. There may have been a new threat from LE Waterman and the decision
was made to obliterate the Waterman name from all existing products. |

Weidlich oversize fountain pen that was made in the
USA in the 1920s. The color is lapis blue and although there is some
darkening from age and use, it is still a nice looking pen with even
color. This is a blue with blue specks version of the lapis blue.
This shade is always darker than the blue with white specks version. It
has a plain unsigned clip, but I don't think I have ever had a Weidlich
with a signed clip. This pen is a smooth writer. It is a lever
fill pen and it has been serviced.

Color: lapis
blue

This is a great example of a Weidlich pen. Great writer. Nice
color. There is a small hairline in the nib under the vent hold. It does
not affect performance and it does not open up when you put pressure on
the nib. |

This pen is near mint. There is no ink inside the cap. I think it was only
used a few times. The gold wash on the trim is mostly still there, which
is something I usually can't say about gold washed trim. Nice smooth
writer. The sticker is still inside the box from the jewelry store that
sold this pen. |
