| If your information bar is showing an Active Content Alert it is
due to our navigation menu & shopping cart features which are controlled by
Java Script. The newest versions of Internet Explorer block these automatically.
This will slow down your ability to navigate the site & affect your
ability to shop easily.
If you do not see ADD
buttons next to each item or if the "view cart" or "place
order" page appear to have no cart or other way to place your order then
Internet Explorer (or other web browser) is blocking these features from you.
You
may
have seen a pop up box that reads: "Did you notice the information bar?"
OR your information bar may show a shield & read: "To help protect your
security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active
content that could access your computer. Click here for options." (look
at the top of this window - just below your browsers buttons)
Please be advised that www.pensandwatches.com
does not use "cookies" or collect any information from your
browser.
The only Java Scripts used on this site are for navigation &
shopping cart purposes only. You can turn the IE blocking off by clicking
on the alert bar & choosing "allow blocked content". This
will enable the drop down menu which allows you to navigate the site more
quickly, view your shopping cart & check out forms. It will also enable the "ADD" to shopping cart buttons to
appear with each item.
If you do not turn the IE Blocking off you will still be able to navigate using
the less detailed navigation links found on each page however, you will need to
email any orders you care to place.
Active content includes many things
- forms that you may fill out on web sites are active content, drop down
boxes are active content, buttons or pictures that change when your mouse
runs over them, links that change color, collapsing tables of content
are all active content.
Most active content is just for fun or functionality however,
there are some people who might use it to gather info about your pc that
is just none of their business. So, our web browser are not trying
to sensor our behavior or keep us from having fun. It's trying to
protect us from ourselves. It's worth the little bit of frustration
& headache it can sometimes cause.
I have investigated other shopping carts to use on the site.
However, the one I use now works great & is inexpensive - which allows
prices to stay low. I bought the software, paid for it ONCE & maintain it
myself. Other carts require sellers to pay huge start up costs & a
percentage of their sales to the system. Guess who pays for that in
the end - the customers. So, I am really trying to avoid it.
If you still have problems with seeing the ADD buttons - just
email us. We'll be happy to help or to simply take your order by
email. |
