Vintage
Elgin Pilot's wristwatch that was made for the USAAF during
World War II. According to the serial number, this watch was made in
1942. The movement is a USA made 15 jewel windup model with the hack set
feature. Hack set was a way of stopping the watch by pulling out the
crown.
If you ever watched the old war movies and everyone was synchronizing
their watches, this was the feature that would let them stop their watch
with the second hand on twelve and their watches would be synchronized
right to the second. The case has no wear, which is very unusual on these
nickel plated cases. Fully serviced.

This is a nice example of a classic Elgin Type A-11 pilot's watch. I
installed a low profile watch crystal in this watch to keep it closer to
original, these never came with the high dome crystals used on most
watches. The crown is an original correct crown for this case. The hack
set works perfectly. Aside from the scratches on the back, this watch is
in really great condition. |

This is a nice clean Elgin tank watch with a USA made movement. The case
is not signed at all on this watch. I believe this case was made by a case
company and sold with the diamond dial to jewelry shops and repair shops.
It was made specifically for this movement. It is a good quality case and
the dial is unlike any that Elgin ever sold. |

Elgin wristwatch that has a nice case and a 19
jewel USA made movement. This is a classic USA made Elgin
watch from the 1950s. This movement has the adjustable balance instead
of a regulator on the hairspring [you will note the lack of a
regulator]. It also has shock protection and and flexible arms on the balance
like a Wyler. Elgin was going in the right direction before they
closed up the USA plant. This is a nice example of one of their
last improvements.
